EYE Focus - Subconjunctival Hemorrhage

A harmless collection of blood under the lining of the eye. This condition may be due to injury or straining (as in lifting, sneezing, or coughing); often there is no known cause. Subconjunctival blood does not cause pain or vision problems.

This condition needs no treatment. It will take 1-2 weeks for the blood to dissolve. If you take aspirin or Coumadin on a daily basis or if you have high blood pressure, you should check with your doctor about the need for further treatment. Please call your doctor if you have problems with your visions, pain around the eye, or any other concerns about your condition.
